If you plan events & entertainment for a company that's committed to sustainability, chances are you occasionally need earth-friendly disposable cups, plates and utensils for venues where washing dishes or glasses just isn't an option.

For home entertaining, plain eco-friendly plates and cups are fine, but for business entertaining you usually require a more polished and professional look. While it's just a small touch, having your company or event logo printed on the paper plates, cups and napkins used by your guests subtly reinforces your brand image and adds a touch of class to your event.

To meet the needs of our clients who plan green corporate events, Ecoswag.com now offers Chinet paper plates with your custom logo imprint. You've probably heard of the Chinet brand before, but you might not realize how eco-friendly their plates actually are. Made in the USA from 100% recycled fiber, they're the greenest AND sturdiest paper plates around. We're currently offering the <a href=”http://ecoswag.com/Custom-Chinet-Dinner-Plate”…

Promotional hand sanitizers have been THE hottest swag item of 2009, helped in no small part by the H1N1 flu scare that was all over the world media. Whether packaged in gel or spray pen forms, almost all custom-label promotional hand sanitizers have one thing in common - they are made with ingredients derived from petroleum. That's why I was so excited to find this 100% plant based formula!

I recently discovered gelFAST 2GO's custom label products at a promotional industry tradeshow. This is a line of plant-based sanitizing gels developed and manufactured in Canada. Until recently, this company's products were only sold through hospital and healthcare channels, and are used by doctors and healthcare workers worldwide. Clinical studies are available regarding the effectiveness of this formulation. Now it's available in the US on Ecoswag.com with custom labeling for your company's promotional marketing.

First off, the packaging is unique, functional and 100%…

While there are all kinds of places you want your logo to show up to promote your brand image, there are definitely places you DON'T want it to show up - especially if your logo happens to be on a plastic bag.

Bag in tree This is one of those places. Unfortunately, plastic bags are lightweight and easily become caught in trees where they are almost impossible to retrieve. Bags like this are not only an eyesore, they can also be deadly to birds and tree-climbing animals that either try to eat them or become tangled or trapped.

Bag in water

To the right is another place you don't want your logo-printed plastic bag to show up, which is in lakes, streams, rivers or ponds. Even though you may not see them after they sink to the bottom, they're a major cause of pollution in our nation's waterways and can take years or even decades to break down, as well as posing a hazard to creatures who live in the water.

If your company buys custom-printed biodegradable bags that's a step in the right direction….

After spending the past week at the PPAI Expo in Las Vegas (which is the largest new product tradeshow in the promotional industry) I'm happy to report that more and more of our suppliers are offering items made from sustainable and recycled materials. Even better news - the price difference is shrinking between "green" and traditional promotional products. Many of the new eco-friendly items are now just slightly higher in price than their traditional counterparts, which really needed to happen for earth friendly promos to become mainstream.

Today I want to tell you about a new eco-friendly version of an old swag favorite - the insulated can cooler (often called a can "koozie").Eco-Coolie These are an old-school swag item with a new "green" twist - they are now available made of neoprene material that contains at least 85% post-consumer recycled content!

Eco Coolie: This is SUCH a new item that it's not even available until February 1st, but I wanted to be the very first to tell you about…

Season’s Greetings from all of us here at Ecoswag! The New Year is fast-approaching and I want to let you in on a few new eco-friendly swag ideas to get you started on marketing your company in the New Year. I know how postage can rack up quite a bill, so with a budget in mind I’m featuring three very affordable gifts that are lightweight and inexpensive to ship; not to mention flat, making them easy to insert into an envelope! Media[4]

The first item I want to draw your attention to is a Biodegradable Sponge. It is a nice and easy-to-mail 1/8” thick (or thin depending on how you look at it) when dry, and expands to 5/8” when exposed to liquid. These affordable and naturally biodegradable sponges make a great giveaway for your business to use for advertising at tradeshows and other events.  Combine custom-printed sponges with creative messaging like “Squeeze Every Penny out of your IT Budget” or “Clean Up Your Credit” to take this from a mundane to memorable promotion….

We don’t mean to alarm you – but we think you should know that the average desk surface has over 400 times more germs than a toilet seat! Germs are responsible for more than 4 million sick days at the office – costing billions of dollars a year. 97% of office workers are concerned about germs in the workplace – and yet most employees and business owners have no idea what to do about it.

 Recycled Mouse Pad

Well, we have an answer for you! Our antimicrobial Recycled Mouse Pad is an excellent way to promote your earth-friendly business, and help keep desks sanitary. This mouse pad's surface is treated for anti-microbial protection. When microbes (such as bacteria, mold and mildew) come in contact with the pad surface, the antimicrobial protection penetrates the cell wall of the microbe and disrupts key functions so the microbe cannot function, grow or reproduce. This continuous built-in cleaning action helps stop the spread of germs and lasts for the life of the mouse pad.

With this…

If you're looking for a promotional product with a long life that keeps your logo in front of people every day, clocks are an excellent choice. Like calendars, clocks are a useful item to have around the home or office that people look at on a daily basis. As a promotional item, clocks are a safer bet than calendars because people can use more than one clock - and many people will keep them longer than just a year.

Now promotional clocks are "going green" with alternative power sources like solar energy and even water-powered batteries. This new generation of clocks has an eco-cool factor that reflects positively on your earth friendly business image while keeping disposable batteries (and their yucky toxic chemicals) out of our nation's landfills.

Today we added 3 eco-powered promotional clocks to Ecoswag.com. Here's a quick rundown on why we chose them and how they work:

In today’s Information Age, people are constantly seeking information that will help them achieve success in their personal and business life, including information about their industry, competition, and new products and services. Newsletter marketing is a great way to create front of mind awareness, communicate news and information about new products and services, and stay in touch with your customers and prospects on a regular basis. Here are a few tips on how to create a successful newsletter:

  • Create a consistent, well-designed template with a nameplate that is easily recognized issue after issue.
  • Include articles to inform and educate, including helpful tips about your products and services. Readers who enjoy your tips are more likely to read for more information and contact you directly for help or to buy from you.
  • Keep it short and sweet. Use short stories, bulleted information, lists, and other forms of concise information. If necessary, include a link to additional…

Our team debated about whether to add USB Flash Drives to our product selection on Ecoswag.com for quite a while before we put them on the site today. Here's the thought process that led us to the decision to include them in our definition of "eco-friendly promotional products"…

Iclick USB WHAT MAKES A CUSTOM LOGO USB FLASH DRIVE ECO-FRIENDLY?
If you were expecting to see a bamboo-clad USB drive here as an example of "eco-friendly" we're sorry to disappoint you. Truth is, what makes a USB flash drive eco-friendly doesn't have much to do with the material on the outside. Whether the outside is wood, rubber, bamboo or metal, when it comes to USB drives it's what's INSIDE that really matters.

The bottom line: USB flash drives are eco-friendly because of what they replace - heavy, bulky reams of paper. Much like the popular metal water bottle, their eco-appeal is based on what they keep out of the waste stream, not the material from which they're made. If your company prints and…
