When times get tough, people appreciate little pick-me-ups like cookies and chocolate. Small wonder that promotional industry sales of custom-branded food and candy actually rose in 2009, a year that saw declining sales in all other categories of swag. Individually custom-packaged candies and snacks are versatile and inexpensive marketing items with wide appeal. Unlike any other giveaway item you can buy to promote your brand, giveaways of food or candy engage ALL five of your recipient's senses and subconsiously tie your brand to the positive (and highly personal) experience of enjoying a tasty treat.
The most important things you need to be aware of when buying edible swag items are quality, storage and shelf life. Quality and taste are of prime importance - you should insist on trying samples of any food gifts you're considering before you buy them. The last thing you want is to associate your brand image with waxy, cheap chocolate or stale popcorn!
Along those same lines, when…

Heads Up! Ecoswag.com recently overhauled our entire selection of promotional flash drives and I think you're going to like what you see. We now offer five new styles of earth-friendly USB flash drives on our site that have eco-appeal, lifetime warranties and some of the most competitive pricing you'll find on customized flash drives anywhere.
Even though flash memory prices have come down dramatically over the past few years, customized drives made from sustainable materials like wood, bamboo or recycled paper have been tough to find at competitive prices. As much as I want to see corporate America embrace eco-friendly swag, it's a tough sell if the prices on green items are significantly higher (especially in these days of tight marketing budgets).
Here's one of our new drives - the EcoPaper USB Drive, with an outer shell made from recycled paper in a 1GB size. This simple & appealing design is clean, green and understated (which puts the spotlight on your brand, as it should…

Here at Ecoswag I do my best to stay afloat on the eco-friendly promotional product wave. As more of our suppliers expand their green product offerings, I have my hands full (to say the least).
It is an exciting time in our industry because of the innovation that's going into the development of new, green items. From recycled electronics to recycled elephant poo, I’m having fun keeping you in the know about what’s new on the eco side of the promo industry.
This blog post is to introduce you to our new Recycled Cotton T Shirt made by Anvil, and why this is a terrific, budget-friendly alternative to more expensive organic cotton t-shirts.
If you've been in the market for eco-friendly custom t-shirts over the past few years your selection has been pretty limited. Unless you have the budget for premium priced bamboo or hemp shirts, organic cotton t-shirts have been the only game in town… and let's be honest - they're spendy compared to plain old cotton shirts….

I came across some interesting items today while researching new products to add to www.ecoswag.com. One of our suppliers manufactures promotional products made of plastic recycled from e-waste (discarded electronics).
While innovation in the world of technology has provided us with some pretty amazing products, the rapid pace of technological change has led to serious environmental impacts.
As computers, monitors, printers and other devices become obsolete, many people simply throw them away. It is estimated that the average cell phone user now upgrades phones every 18 months, and most businesses and individuals upgrade their computers every 3-5 years. Greenpeace estimates that 20 to 50 million tons of electronics waste (often called e-waste) is discarded globally every year. I see anything we can do to creatively re-purpose and re-use this discarded technology as positive for the planet!
So recycling this waste and turning it into handy little giveaways seems like a step in…

My boss told me to write about some crap for the blog post this week, and I decided to take that literally. The subject of this blog post? Elephant Poo Paper!
I’m excited to tell you more about a unique (to say the least) eco-friendly material being used in the promotional industry. While I was searching for new items to feature on Ecoswag.com, I discovered a supplier that makes paper products from Elephant Poo. This immediately put a grin on my face; I could imagine all the jokes to be made about promotional swag made from poop. To be honest, the stuff we sell sometimes has a negative connotation of being “crap” because not everyone understands how useful cheap giveaways can be to promote brand recognition at tradeshows and other events. Well, for all the cynics out there, you get the last laugh…crap is now officially being used to make some of our products!
The Great Elephant Poo Poo Paper Company is poo-roud to present custom promo items made from Elephant…

Since I've gotten a few inquiries over the past few weeks regarding a couple of Seed Paper items offered on Ecoswag.com, I thought I'd devote this blog post to telling you more about the various custom seed paper items you can source through our company as well as give you more information about how they're made and where they come from.
Right now the only Seed Paper item on our site is our Seeded Paper Name Badges, which are one of my favorite items for "Green" events. These badges begin with seed-impregnated cardstock, then are custom-printed to order with your logo artwork and the names of your attendees.
While this does require some advance planning on your part, the results are well worth it. You simply supply us with an Excel Spreadsheet with the data to be printed on your badges about 2 weeks prior to your event and we'll take care of the rest. Your badges will come out looking fantastic every time, and they can be planted in the ground to grow wildflowers after the event…

We've gotten several inquires over the past few weeks on the two Seeded Paper items on the Ecoswag.com website, our Seed Paper Event Badges and Printed Seed Paper Postcards. Since we can also hook you up with lots of other seed paper items that are not yet shown on our website, I thought I'd devote a quick blog post to telling you more about these items and the company we work with that produces them for us.
There are several suppliers of promotional seed paper items in our industry, and some offer very similar looking items at different price points. Ecoswag has chosen to work with Bloomin Promotions of Colorado for our seed paper items, mainly because we've worked with them for years and have complete confidence in the integrity of their products.
One thing to be aware of is what kind of seeds are actually in seeded paper items, because the last thing you want is to be spreading the seeds of invasive species (such as clover or dandelions) that can be hard to eradicate. We like…

In October of last year, I blogged about this ceramic mug which has been fondly nicknamed: “I am not a paper cup”. It has indeed been around for a while, and I rarely blog about the same thing twice, yet I feel compelled to keep my pulse on the trends of the industry and inform my readers about these trends. I invite you to read my previous blog about this ceramic coffee mug, but for a more current look at this popular eco-friendly swag idea please read on…
Six months ago the Terra mug was the first to be sold in the promotional industry and they instantly became the new “must have” eco-friendly swag item for businesses creating brand awareness. They were in such high demand that it was nearly impossible place an order; much less receive these mugs custom-printed with your logo in a timely manner.
Here we are today, with probably over a dozen different suppliers with look-alikes, and the way to stay ahead of the curve is to introduce the ceramic mug- but with a little…

Now that health care reform is for the most part a done deal, our nation's political attention will soon turn to the Fall elections. And no matter what your political views are, one thing is for sure… every campaign needs yard signs!
With so many elections around the country, that's a lot of signs. Most of them end up in landfills after the contest is over, creating tons and tons of trash that will take decades to decompose completely. As I researched the subject of green political campaigns for this post, I noticed several stories online about stricter environmental standards being set for earth-friendly election signage in countries like Turkey and India. Given the current political climate in the US, I wouldn't be surprised to see this issue coming up more often here in the US as well…and Ecoswag can be part of the solution.
We offer simple-to-install, inexpensive political lawn signs made from recyclable, durable plastic material on a sturdy, reusable metal frame like…

With spring just around the corner I started thinking about what kind of events companies will be planning. Immediately my mind started wandering towards outdoor events. Because I am an Oregonian I do love and embrace the rainy season to the best of my ability, however each year I eagerly anticipate the warmer and sunnier weather that comes with spring.
So what outdoor events will your company be participating in this spring? How about golf events?
Having your company participate in community or charity golf events where you can sponsor a hole provides a wonderful platform to display your company’s logo in a variety of ways. Think about it… golf balls, tees and pouches, hats, bag tags, divot repair tools, marking pens, and even the golf bag itself can be custom printed with a logo or artwork. Plus, players or people there to watch are going to get hungry at some point, so to add to the list of creative marketing ideas there are custom printed snack bags, forks,…
