Popular hotel and resort chain, Vail Resorts, has entered into a new partnership to help restore forest lands and improve water quality. The partnership, titled “Treasured Landscapes: The Hayman Restoration Partnership – Working Together for Healthy Forests and Clean Water,” is one of the most comprehensive forest conservation projects in the country. The project was “catalyzed” seven years ago during Colorado’s largest and most devastating wildfire.

In the summer of 2002, the Hayman fire burned a total of 137,760 acres in the Pike National Forest, leaving 600 destroyed structures, obliterated forest vegetation and wildlife habitat for threatened species, damaged recreation sites, trails and roads, resulting in frequent closures of Highway 67. To this day, the fire’s aftermath continues to severely impact the water supply for more than 75 percent of Colorado residents.

Vail is joined by both the National Forest Foundation (NFF) and the USDA Forest Service in the $4 million…

Watermelon with strange cicles

Crop circles, unexplained lights in the sky and now strange marking on my Watermelons? ET Phone home?  Is there life outside of the Earth and if so, how were they able to make such small circles on my Watermelons?

It does not have the usual green stripes that you see in the supermarket.  This melon is dark green.  Weighs maybe 10 lbs.  Lots of black and white seeds. Really sparked a conversation every time I showed people the markings.

I happened to love growing heirlooms because I have no idea what the vegetable is going to look like.  Many of you might recall my lemon cucumber that looks like a tennis ball with an 8 o’clock shadow on its skin.

Watermelon with strange circles
