Accessories are a big part of any girl’s life. They help to dress up and enhance any outfit while giving you a chance to show off a little of your personality. What better way to do that than with unique bracelets and cuffs. In the past, it was difficult to find accessories for the person that was trying to incorporate green living into their life but that is no longer the case. There are many products available that are both stylish and eco-friendly. Just for example we have unique recycled bracelets and cuffs made from old vinyl records that are a tremendous hit.

Cosmetic Safety Database140,321,493 searches have been requested on EWG’s Skin Deep cosmetics safety database since 2004 - and counting.

That’s a lot of searches, by a lot of people seeking safer personal care products. Seeking products that don’t contain toxic chemicals that are increasingly linked to serious adverse heath effects.

And Skin Deep isn’t the only such tool. In September, our friends at The Ecology Center in Michigan released another great search tool, Healthy Stuff, based on tests on 5,000 consumer products. And it’s popular, too.

Then there’s EWG’s recent cell phone radiation database, our Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce, Z Recommends, The Soft Landing, Safe Mama, and many, many others.

So what gives? Why are so many people seeking safer products? Oh right. It’s because they don’t know what’s safe anymore.

They don’t trust their government to protect them because until very recently it has done so very little. And they don’t trust industry to be honest with…

With the Copenhagen conference quickly on its way, a new and one-time train link between Kyoto and Copenhagen has just opened for traffic. Sponsored by the , the Climate Change Express is a one-month, 9,000-kilometer journey that symbolically joins the site of the last global warming pact with what is hoped to be the birthplace of the next major, and stricter, treaty to combat climate change.

The Train to Copenhagen will roll across the globe through the vast wilds of Russian Siberia and into Europe as part of the UN Seal the Deal! campaign. Aboard, environmental experts and climate change campaigners will send eye-witness accounts of global warming signs under way while working to raise awareness of the impact of the transport sector, which already accounts for over one fifth of global CO2 greenhouse emissions.

These emissions are projected to double within only 40 years and railways are crucial in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and developing sustainable…

Imagine what the sound of one thousand alarm clocks was like when they simultaneously rang at 8:30 in the morning as a “wake up” call to the attendees of the last international climate meeting before the major climate change summit in Copenhagen in December? The wake up call was organized by the TckTckTck campaign which represents over 200 development, humanitarian and environmental organizations.  Hundreds of Barcelona residents and conference observers provided the “wake-up” call.

TckTckTck Campaign Director Ben Margolis stated, “[w]e stand here today united to tell our leaders that time is running out to agree a fair, ambitious and binding climate deal.”  According to Tck Tck Tck Campaign press release, progress to date to thrash out the critical elements of an international agreement to fight climate change have been beset by unacceptable delay.

Margolis further stated, “Governments must commit to reducing emissions by 40 per cent from 1990 levels – making the…

This week my email box was jammed with press releases as well as interesting reads.  I have no idea what is in the air but it seemed as if the green chatter was so much louder this week.  Kind of like the amount of ladybugs I have clinging to my windows screaming ”let me in…”  Did anyone else feel that way?

So let’s kick off this week’s green speed link week with Newsweek.

The Dark Side of Green.  Gaming the global-warming fight. via Newsweek.  Interesting article about how  governmental subsidies are hurting more then helping to  reduce the cost of renewable energy.  The author sums up his argument as follows:

“But of the 10 most cost-effective and measurable ways for the world to cut emissions, for example, subsidies for renewables don’t even make it onto the list. Much more effective is putting a price on emissions, or finding other ways to mandate reductions and letting the market decide which technologies are the best. Here’s hoping…

Indoor Air Quality refers to how clean the air indoors is. We spend 90-95% of our time indoors. Often times the air outside is cleaner. This leads to health problems like allergies, asthma, etc.
Consumer Product Safety Commission and EPA has a good guide on how to improve indoor air quality. EPA has an extensive [...]
