Degreasing jobs are difficult and tiresome cleaning applications. Degreasing industrial machinery, tools, garage floors, and vehicle exteriors often involves scrubbing, washing, and wiping. To make the job easier, most people use cleaning chemicals. However, these chemicals can be toxic and dangerous to your health and the environment around you.. Fortunately, it is now possible to achieve outstanding degreasing results and prevent exposure to toxic chemical components by using the advanced line of green chemicals available from Daimer®.

The Eco-Green® Ultra-Power™ Super Duty Degreaser from Daimer® is a powerful yet safe, plant-based degreaser empowered with innovative cleaning technology. This natural green degreaser contains nano-sized micelles that effectively penetrate grease molecules. The grease molecules are then broken up into millions of tiny molecules that repel one another, making them incapable of reattaching to the cleaned surfaces. These green cleaners can…

Season’s Greetings from all of us here at Ecoswag! The New Year is fast-approaching and I want to let you in on a few new eco-friendly swag ideas to get you started on marketing your company in the New Year. I know how postage can rack up quite a bill, so with a budget in mind I’m featuring three very affordable gifts that are lightweight and inexpensive to ship; not to mention flat, making them easy to insert into an envelope! Media[4]

The first item I want to draw your attention to is a Biodegradable Sponge. It is a nice and easy-to-mail 1/8” thick (or thin depending on how you look at it) when dry, and expands to 5/8” when exposed to liquid. These affordable and naturally biodegradable sponges make a great giveaway for your business to use for advertising at tradeshows and other events.  Combine custom-printed sponges with creative messaging like “Squeeze Every Penny out of your IT Budget” or “Clean Up Your Credit” to take this from a mundane to memorable promotion….

Treating our planet and environment better does not just consist of big projects and massive funding.  The big differences actually come in small packages.  Politicians and stars can perform all they want to appease public opinion, but the true secret to changing the face of our globe lies in the hands of the everyday man and woman—in another word…you.  And one small difference that any individual citizen can make is eliminating the use of plastic bags in their lives.

At first glance, plastic bags seem like a convenience that makes our lives easier.  They are right there at the store when you need them.  You can even reuse them at home once you take your groceries out.  And they don’t really take up much space in landfills if you scrunch them up into little “throw-away balls.”

So in a way, plastic bags don’t seem like as big of a problem as they are made out to be.  But fortunately most humans over 5 years old have the ability to practice the mental exercise of…

Earth-Baby.com is a new service that composts disposable baby diapers and wipes.  Finally a green solution to a long time problem. They say their high temperature composting process uses only a tiny fraction of the energy required to launder diapers.
The down sides. Their monthly service fee is $27.45 and includes delivery, pickup, and professional processing.  [...]

unused sport equipment

Since I have closed my garden for the winter, I started to look inward at my house which has been neglected during the summer months.  As many of my loyal readers know, I am obsessed with gardening, and everything goes on hold until the last vegetable is picked.   As I piled my garden equipment back into the garage for the winter, I could not help but notice my messy garage with bicycles, outdoor toys, and sports equipment sprawled all over the floor.

As I sifted through all the equipment on the floor, I notice that much of it was too small for my fourth child.  Boy, has time flown.   Yes, the tears start to well up in my eyes when I muse about when they wore those skates or rollerblades. I am a big softie about how fast my children have grown.

The good news is the sports equipment is in pretty good shape and has received its fair share of use by my four boys. But, as we all know, children grow like weeds. (Sorry, there I go again using those gardening words. ) Eventually,…

Green Building23 Dec 2009 04:14 pm

Building a new home, no matter what style or construction type, impacts the environment. Our goal as green architects is to limit that impact through the green home design process and construction of the home. Not surprisingly, the size of a new home can and does influence its environmental impact. With the green building movement taking shape over the past ten years, one would think the average home size has decreased. On the contrary: the average new home built in 2008 in the northeast was 274 square feet larger than one built in 2000 (source NAHB).

Small homes have benefits over larger homes:
Generally cost less, which means less money financed
Require less energy for heating and cooling, which means lower energy costs
Have smaller, more efficient systems (furnace, AC, plumbing, etc.)
Can earn points toward energy program certification for small size
Will require less maintenance
Less is definitely more in terms of size.

Small green homes are less in terms of:
Disturbance to the site,…

New building permits rise more than expected — a hopeful sign for industry

WASHINGTON - Associated Press, 12/16/09 - Construction of new homes, helped by better weather, rebounded in November following a setback in the previous month.

The gain is a hopeful sign that the housing recovery is continuing, a development viewed as critical to lifting the overall economy out of recession.
