Parts Washer &Cleaner

When it comes to cleaning industrial tools, you will most often experience a tough time cleaning grime and grease. If you resort to chemical cleaners, the harsh chemicals may damage sensitive machine parts. Harmful chemicals can even present a health hazard for you and your employees. This is why it would be a good idea to consider using green chemicals, such as Eco-green® Ultra-Power™ Parts Washer & Cleaner. This is a concentrated, non-toxic, plant-based cleaner that instantly dissolves tough hydrocarbon deposits like grease, fats, oil, proteins, sugar, and petroleum derivatives.

The cleaning capability of Eco-green® Ultra-Power ™ Parts Washer & Cleaner is mainly due to its use of advanced Micro-Blasting® technology, which breaks down the hydrocarbon bonds that hold grease particles together. The nano-sized particles in such green chemicals penetrate deep into the grease molecules and break them up, making it easier for you to remove greasy deposits.

One of the things one starts to see when we use an “environmental lens” is the full lifecycle of a product.

One company that’s always been considered a leader in environmental responsibility is Patagonia.  Patagonia was founded by environmentalist Yvon Chouinard in 1973.  An excellent story about the company can be found on Fast Company’s web page.  Here is a deep link to that story.  The applicable piece for this blog posting is below:

In May 2007, Chouinard challenged a group of 10 employees to track five products from the design studio to the raw-materials stage to Patagonia’s Nevada distribution center. His gumshoes canvassed the globe, observing yarn spinners in Thailand, visiting a 50,000-employee footwear factory in China, touring a fiber-manufacturing facility in North Carolina. A microsite at patagonia.com, featuring short videos (also available on YouTube) and detailed information, quietly went live last fall. The paths…

Laptop_keyboard.jpg“This is the beginning of the end for brominated flame retardants.”

So said Richard Wiles, EWG senior VP for policy, upon learning last week that the major manufacturers of decaBDE have agreed to stop making it.

Who agreed to what, with whom and when?
Late on December 17th, three large chemical companies and officials of the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a deal to voluntarily phase out the toxic flame retardant Decabromodiphenyl ether (Deca), which is heavily used in consumer electronics, furniture, textiles and plastic shipping pallets.

The voluntary agreement with bromine industry giants Chemtura, Albemarle and ICL Industrial Products would end production, importation and use of Deca in all consumer products by December 2012. A full ban would take effect one year later.

A voluntary agreement isn’t enough
The joint announcement came just two days after legislation to force a phase-out of Deca was introduced in the House of…

Green Building07 Jan 2010 06:11 pm

One of our current projects is a luxury home in Enfield, New Hampshire. The contemporary style will maximize water views of Mascoma Lake from almost every room in the house.

Entertaining family and friends is a necessity for this great couple. The home design features a large open floor plan with a spacious kitchen and dining room which open to the great room, allowing guests to socialize freely between rooms.
Energy efficiency is an equally important goal for the home. Utilizing both active and passive solar technologies in the design along with a partial timber frame and structural insulated panels, this new home is being designed to meet Energy Star certification, keeping its carbon footprint to a minimum.

Construction is starting this winter and will continue on throughout the spring.
