If you have had doubts about this intersection of Project Management and green that we assert, check this out.

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development has created a transformational document called Vision 2050. In this February 2010 report (so we’re talking brand-new) they identify something they call a critical pathway to success.  Hmmm.  I have heard that term… critical pathway…somewhere before, haven’t you?

Under the Vision 2050 project of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), 29 WBCSD member companies developed a vision of a world well on the way to sustainability by 2050, and a pathway leading to that world – a pathway that will require fundamental changes in governance structures, economic frameworks,
business and human behavior.  It emerged that these changes are necessary, feasible and offer
tremendous business opportunities for companies that turn sustainability into strategy.

The Vision 2050 project addresses three… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)

If you plan events & entertainment for a company that's committed to sustainability, chances are you occasionally need earth-friendly disposable cups, plates and utensils for venues where washing dishes or glasses just isn't an option.

For home entertaining, plain eco-friendly plates and cups are fine, but for business entertaining you usually require a more polished and professional look. While it's just a small touch, having your company or event logo printed on the paper plates, cups and napkins used by your guests subtly reinforces your brand image and adds a touch of class to your event.

To meet the needs of our clients who plan green corporate events, Ecoswag.com now offers Chinet paper plates with your custom logo imprint. You've probably heard of the Chinet brand before, but you might not realize how eco-friendly their plates actually are. Made in the USA from 100% recycled fiber, they're the greenest AND sturdiest paper plates around. We're currently offering the <a href=”http://ecoswag.com/Custom-Chinet-Dinner-Plate”…

New organic food rules have recently been announced by the US Agriculture Department (USDA) regarding organic meat and organic milk.  Organic Milk and Organic Meat must come from livestock grazing on pasture for at least 120 days a year, and that 30% of their feed must come from grazing pasture during the grazing season.  Producers must have a pasture management plan and Ranchers must have a plan to protect soil and water quality.

Previously the rules state that livestock needed to have  “access to pasture”, which could mean the door was open but they never went out.

New rules take affect in June 17, 2010.

With the release of a new “Lifestyle Specialist” course, The Travel Institute announced is actively enabling travel agents to effectively market sustainable travel and tourism. This course joins eight other Lifestyle Specialist courses offered by The Travel Institute each one allowing travel professionals to test and earn an industry recognized credential.

Sponsored by Virtuoso, the new course was created in partnership with Sustainable Travel International (STI), a non-profit organization that promotes responsible travel and supports sustainable development.

“Virtuoso was pleased to support the development of a sustainable travel course in collaboration with The Travel Institute and Sustainable Travel International,” said Mindy Exum, managing director of training & professional development at Virtuoso. “Global economists continue to forecast that international tourism is one of the world’s largest growing industries in the world, increasing three to six percent annually…

With its Olympic festivities in full screen, Vancouver is again in the headlines for the Vancouver Convention Centre (yes, that is “Center” for all of us in the States) – its iconic West building has been awarded LEED Platinum certification for new construction by the Canada Green Building Council. Platinum is the highest level of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.

This award comes less than a year since the building officially opened its doors in April 2009.

“The Vancouver Convention Centre is the only convention centre in the world to receive the highest level of LEED certification,” says Kevin Krueger, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts. “Not only is the expanded Vancouver Convention Centre bringing economic benefits to the province and the tourism industry, but it’s a model of sustainability that will set a new standard.”

LEED, a third-party certification program and an internationally accepted benchmark for the design,…

Last night during on our Green Moms Carnival blab-fest, Beth of Fake Plastic Fish sent an email  to the group about watching the above video.  ( What’s a Green Mom Carnival blab-fest?  It is a mad rush of  emails back and forth among the members of our Green Mom Carnival group about various topics.)  Thanks, Beth for sending this video.

Although this video is a departure from  my green theme, it is really important to watch this video.  I know I am guilty of not putting on my own seat belt.   My husband is constantly reminding me.

All I can say is that this video is absolutely beautifully done.  Message heard. Buckle up.  How about you?

unknowcomic One of the companies we consider “at the top of their game” in our new book, Sun Chips®, is going one step further.  On Earth Day, April 22, 2010, they will be  introducing a 100% compostable bag for their chips.  According to their website, the bag is designed to fully disintegrate in about 14 weeks in a “hot, active compost bin or pile.”  It is another example of a  creative project designed to continue on a path of sustainability.
