Consumer Reports has a new issue entitled Best TVs with a great review of indoor paints including an independent review and discussion of low and no VOC paints.

Low VOC paints contain no more than 50 grams per liter of VOCs.  At one time indoor paints contained almost 400 grams per liter of VOCs.

The top rated paints were low VOC with zero VOC ones rated lower.  Some of the zero VOC paints that did well in Satin and Flat finishes that we have encountered in the past are Olympic Premium from Lowe’s. This paint is very inexpensive and available nationwide.

BestDealMagazines has 1yr subscriptions to Consumer Reports sold at a steep discount. Normal newsstand price is $77. Use 15% off coupon code in our right side column to save even more.

Recent campaigns by two particular British has seen them urging business travellers to use flights when they need to contact their clients or suppliers. FlyBe and British Airways have launched a campaign attacking conference calls as an alternative to travelling to business meetings. Flybe’s website states that 40% of potential customers will become customers after a face-to-face meeting, compared with only 16% without.

These stats seem to show that any savings that are made on conference calls will be lost in attracting new business. However, when this was announced Powwownow, a UK conference call company, hit back by putting into question these stats. Powwownow discovered that the study cited is non-peer reviewed research sponsored by two travel industry groups, the US Travel Association and the Destination and Travel Foundation. It is not unreasonable to suggest that these authors do not come from the most independent of positions. I’d say neither opponent comes out on top…

podcasting, video, or blogging

I really enjoy podcasting but it is alot of work to put it up on the site and then write my usual articles about a product or company.  I wish that people would just listen to the podcast so I could skip writing.  I took an informal poll of my Green Carnival Moms and majority said they don’t listen to podcasts. So, I thought I would throw this question out to my readers and see your response.

Would you listen to a podcast and if so, what length of time would be just right?

Do you perfer to watch video and again, what length of time is just right. (I feel like Goldilocks trying out the beds.)

Or are you more the type who likes to skim blogs for information.  A get in and get out type person.

Feedback would be wonderful but if you don’t want to take the time, just answer the poll on the sidebar.

Thanks for your help.Similar Posts:

hht-duster.jpgDust bunnies aren’t just the visible reminder than we’ve (once again) waited far too long to clean house. They can also be allergenic and they contain toxic chemicals.

Now that’s a more compelling reason to clean than impressing the guests.

Why is your household dust toxic?
Every home has a little dust — and its own unique “dust load,” based on a variety of factors like where you live, what you cook, if you smoke, the climate, and how many people — and animals — live there.

Ordinary house dust is a complex mixture of generally yucky stuff — pet dander, fungal spores, tiny particles, soil tracked in on your feet, carpet fibers, human hair and skin, you name it. It’s also a place where harmful chemicals are found. One recent study by the Silent Spring Institute identified 66 endocrine-disrupting compounds in household dust tests, including flame retardants, home-use pesticides, and phthalates.

The chemicals in your dust originate from both inside and outside your house:<br…
